Wellbeing

One plausible overall goal we might have for AI systems is that they should improve the wellbeing of their users and other humans. However, wellbeing can be interpreted in a variety of ways, which raise different conceptual and implementation challenges to be tackled.

Answer:

Wellbeing can be interpreted as preference satisfaction, the net balance of pleasure over pain, or a collection of objective goods.

What is a collection of objective goods?

Answer:

Some philosophers argue that there are more values than pleasure, and that some preferences are mistaken or harmful. They therefore claim that there is a list of components of a good life which is independent of individual beliefs or preferences, for example happiness, health, relationships, and knowledge.
